Few weeks ago, PIKOM held a press conference to celebrate the Malaysian team who won the overall championship at WCG Asia 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia last month. The press conference was attended by PIKOM's President Encik Shaifubahrim Saleh, WCG Malaysia Organizing Chairman Mr. CS Chin, DoTA and DOTA 2 Asian champion team MuFc DoTA and Tekken 6 2nd runner up Mestre Arenz.
The press conference started off with a short speech from both Encik Shaifubahrim Saleh and Mr. CS Chin who believes that the e-Sports industry in Malaysia is growing and getting better and better. They also mentioned that PIKOM will always continue to support the e-Sports industry but feels that PIKOM effort's alone is not enough to bring e-Sports to another level. They hope that with the recent achievements winning WCG Asia 2011, more organizations & medias from both government and the corporate sectors will invest in the e-Sports industry.

Encik Shaifubahrim Saleh further added that with the victory in WCG Asia 2011, it shows that the Malaysian gamers has a lot of potential in the e-Sports industry and this will promote healthy gaming and encourage pro-gaming and game development in the future. They are now looking on the possibility of hosting WCG Grand Final in Malaysia in the next few years or so. However, this will require a lot of planning and most importantly the support from the gaming community. So guys better get yourself ready as who knows, it might be just around the corner.

When ask about future sponsorship, Mr. CS Chin mentioned that there will be more to come in the future. It first started out with the PIKOM Digital Mall as they hope to make it as a dedicated place for e-Sports event in the future. By having a dedicated venue, they hope that this will be able to reduce the cost to host WCG in the future. There are over 1 million gamers in Malaysia and it is estimated that there are more than RM200million online games revenue. Although the number seems to be great, the truth is PIKOM has been losing money when hosting WCG but they can see that the results are showing with the recent great achievements at WCG Asia. WCG Malaysia was going through hard times a few years back and PIKOM took over because they do not want the e-Sports industry to die. PIKOM is definitely going to go all out to bring up the e-Sports industry and they hope others will come in and support their effort as well.
